Siler's Christmas 2011

We went to Disney World last week and had a great time.

Over the last year or so I’ve realized why parents get excited and act all goofy about the most random stuff. I’ve started to do the same thing when it comes to Siler.

We took Siler to Peebles Farm.

Well I had a pretty good time this past weekend. I got to spend 3 days of doing nothing, but watching MLB & NFL games. Live. In person. #StLouis2011

Benadryl Make Baby Cranky

Ever since Siler was born a little over a year ago we’ve been extremely lucky when it comes to babysitters. We really are fortunate that our babysitter situation has been a best-case scenario. To Amber, Natalie and especially all the Grandparents, we say “Thank You”.

This past weekend while at Lake Norfolk I conquered a life long demon. One that has haunted me since I was in elementary school.

Jennifer made me go to a New Kids On The Block + Backstreet Boys concert and it didn't out to be a night to remember. Saying that Jennifer was excited is a huge understatement.

Today was my first time celebrating Father's Day as a dad. To put it shortly, it was really nice.

For those who don’t know, there is nothing fun or awesome about having your wisdom teeth removed.

Not going into a lot of details, but I just wanted to document our 5 year wedding anniversary.

Today Siler went to her first birthday party. Her friend Addison turned 3 years old today and celebrated with a Tinkerbell party.

About 2 months ago I wrote a blog post called “Crawl. Pull Up. Stand. Smile. Fall. Cry. Repeat.” detailing how Siler was trying to walk, but wasn’t quite there yet. Fast forward a few weeks and she’s turned into a “reckless walking machine”. It’s nonstop Crawl - Pull Up - Stand - Smile - Take Off Like a Crazy Person - Fall - Repeat.

Two weeks ago I faced my toughest challenge yet, as a father. A whole week by myself with Siler. Just me and a 9 month old trying to survive for 6 nights and 7 days (Monday through Sunday). Of course we survived, but not without a lot of help.

We decided to buy a small plastic swimming pool this weekend. Pretty sure it will get used a lot this summer. Hopefully it get Siler used to water and keep her from being scared of it.

Ok, I can admit that Siler shows favoritism towards Jennifer. Its that whole motherly-gave-birth-to-you thing.

Over the last few weeks I've noticed Siler's personality is starting show. Now Siler is able to do things on our own.

Operation Pimp Move Status: Success

Here are some pictures of Siler around 7 months. She has started "army crawling", pulling up and trying to stand.

The last few weeks I kept hearing people talk about “Third Street Market in Memphis” and had no idea what they were talking about.

Tonight has been one of the most difficult, but most rewarding nights as a parent.

You just need to tone up some.

Hello, my name is Jacob Cook and I’m a Dr. Pepper addict.

Let me begin this post by saying, “I love my wife and she nothing short of amazing”. But I think she has a secret plan to injure me every single night. Its one of those subjects that we’ve never discussed, but I’m pretty confident its not just a fluke. Every night I come close to death trying to walk in our bedroom while its dark.

My wife is one funny character. Let me tell you about the little stunt she tried to pull on me the other day.

Wife: What do you think cave men did when they had to pee or poop? You think they were smart enough to get leaves?

Me: Seriously, where did that come from?

Wife: I don't know, just thinking about what would we do if we didn't have toilet paper.

This past weekend was Barcamp Jonesboro. A "tech unconference" that was held at Arkansas State University. It consisted of presentations about Twitter, video editing, starting a blog, SEO and more. There were so many interesting presentations that I didn't even get to attend all of them.

The first ever Barcamp Jonesboro is this Saturday and I'm pretty excited to not only attend, but give my own presentation.

Wife: Would you want an iPad for Christmas?

Me: Sure.

Wife: How much do they cost?

Me: About $499.

Wife: Never mind, we'll get a new mattress.

I'm co-hosting a sports show with some buddies of mine called Illegal Shift.

Getting $23 off my bill every month is gonna save me close to $275 a year. Not to bad for not having to do anything.

Using a computer hooked up to a tv in my living room is about to become an even better experience. Now I can use my iphone as "remote control" or keyboard+mouse combination.

A Netflix account along with having a computer hooked up to your television can be very powerful. It's almost good enough to make me cancel my cable television service.

Just by reading the headline you've already got somebody in mind who does this all the time.

I get this creative "itch" from time to time to create various types of content. Anything from websites to podcasts to videos. Its a feeling of accomplishment in a way.

I am very thankful for 2009 and all of it's great memories. I was able to go to Vegas, Disneyworld, my first NFL game and the greatest event was when I found out that I'll be a father. Here is a list of things I am thankful for from this past year.
